The Data Science scholarship program seeks to change lives through education by providing essential knowledge and skills that promote innovation and growth in Africa's data-driven landscape.
Program Origins
The Data Science scholarship program for Africans was launched in 2023 to address the growing demand for data professionals in the region (originally in Botswana).
The initiative aimed to provide educational opportunities to underrepresented students and disadvantaged groups, ensuring that talented individuals could pursue careers in this rapidly evolving field.
Data Science Scholarship Program - History
March 2023
The Program was launched with our first cohort of 50 scholars from Botswana.
April 2024
In our second year of the program, we accepted applications from other African nations, as the learning community began to grow and the diversity added to the learning experience
April 2025
This year, our focus was on building a community in the East and Southern Africa regions.
